WhatsApp Introduces Voice Message Transcription – Here’s How to Use It!

WhatsApp has launched a new feature that allows users to convert voice messages into text, making it easier to follow conversations when listening isn’t an option. The update is being rolled out gradually and will be available to all users in the coming weeks.

The feature was initially announced in November last year and uses on-device processing to transcribe voice messages. Currently, it is available for Android users, while iOS support is expected soon. WhatsApp supports languages like English, Spanish, Portuguese, and Russian, with more to be added later.

How to Enable Voice Message Transcription on WhatsApp

  1. Open WhatsApp and tap on the three-dot menu in the top-right corner.
  2. Go to Chats by selecting Settings and then Chats.
  3. Enable Transcription by scrolling down to find Voice Message Transcripts and turning it on.
  4. Select Your Language from the available options.
  5. Activate the Feature by ensuring an active internet connection.

Once enabled, you can transcribe a voice message by pressing and holding it, tapping on More Options, and selecting Transcribe. The text will appear alongside the voice message, improving accessibility.
