WASHINGTON – The United States has suspended military aid to Ukraine following a heated exchange between President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at the Oval Office.
A White House official, speaking anonymously, stated that the US is reviewing its aid to ensure it aligns with peaceful solutions. However, no official statements have been issued by either government.
The confrontation occurred on March 1, when Trump and Vice President JD Vance urged Ukraine to pursue diplomatic resolutions with Russia. Zelensky rejected the idea, stating that Russian President Vladimir Putin could not be trusted. The discussion escalated, with Trump warning Zelensky, “You’re gambling with World War Three.”
The tense meeting also disrupted a proposed agreement on natural resources between the two nations, which remained unsigned. Following the clash, Trump accused Zelensky of disrespecting the US and declared on social media that the Ukrainian leader was “not ready for peace.” He also hinted at further reducing US support for Ukraine.
This development has further strained relations between Washington and Kyiv, raising concerns about Ukraine’s defense strategy amid its ongoing conflict with Russia.
