Tesla has announced a recall of 46,096 Cybertruck vehicles in the United States due to an issue with an exterior panel that may detach while driving. The recall affects the cant rail, a stainless-steel trim panel, which can delaminate and pose a potential road hazard, increasing the risk of accidents.
According to the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), Tesla will provide free repairs by replacing the faulty panel assembly at its service centers.
This recall is one of several issues reported for the Cybertruck since its launch. Tesla has faced multiple recalls in recent years, with the company accounting for 21% of all U.S. vehicle recalls in the first three quarters of 2024, as per recall management firm BizzyCar. However, most of Tesla’s past recall issues were resolved through over-the-air software updates.
The recall comes at a time when Tesla’s CEO, Elon Musk, is also engaged in efforts to streamline government operations as a senior adviser to President Donald Trump. Despite challenges, Tesla remains a key player in the electric vehicle market, continuing to push advancements in automotive technology.
