Strict Security Measures in Place for ICC Semi-Final in Lahore

LAHORE – A comprehensive security plan has been implemented for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 second semi-final between South Africa and New Zealand at Gaddafi Stadium today at 1 PM.

To ensure safety, 12,201 police personnel, including DIG Operations Faisal Kamran, SSP Operations, and SPs, are deployed. SSP Operations Tasawar Iqbal and SP Security Abdul Wahab are overseeing the security arrangements. Given the high number of spectators, a four-layered security plan has been enforced.

The security deployment includes 12 SPs, 37 DSPs, and 86 inspectors, with 245 female officers assigned for women’s checks. Routes from the airport to team hotels and the stadium are under strict surveillance. Safe City cameras and plainclothes officers are monitoring all movements, while snipers are positioned on high-rise buildings.

Additionally, 33 Elite Force teams, 71 Dolphin and Peru Force units are patrolling key areas. City-wide security sweeps and search operations are also being conducted. Authorities emphasize that public cooperation is crucial in ensuring a smooth and safe event. Travelers are advised to follow the designated traffic plan to avoid disruptions.
