KARACHI – The Saudi Riyal (SAR) gained value against the Pakistani Rupee (PKR) in the open market, reaching Rs74.63 on Saturday, March 8, 2025. According to the Forex Association of Pakistan, the selling rate of the Riyal increased to Rs75.18.
In Pakistan’s open market, the Riyal is currently being exchanged at Rs74.61, meaning 1,000 SAR equals Rs74,630. The Saudi Riyal (SAR) is the official currency of Saudi Arabia and is divided into 100 halalas.
Saudi Arabia hosts a large Pakistani expatriate community engaged in employment and business. These overseas workers play a crucial role in Pakistan’s foreign exchange reserves by sending remittances. In January 2025, Pakistani expatriates in Saudi Arabia sent $728.3 million, which was 5.5% lower than the previous month but 24% higher than January 2024, when $587.4 million was sent.
Pakistan and Saudi Arabia share strong economic ties, with cooperation in various trade and investment sectors.
