Samsung Co-CEO Han Jong-Hee Passes Away at 63

Han Jong-Hee, co-CEO of Samsung Electronics, has passed away at the age of 63 due to cardiac arrest, according to a company spokesperson. Han had been overseeing Samsung’s consumer electronics and mobile devices businesses since 2022. He was appointed vice chairman and co-CEO in 2022, working alongside Jun Young-Hyun, who will now serve as the sole CEO of Samsung following Han’s death.

Han dedicated over 37 years to Samsung, playing a pivotal role in making Samsung a global leader in TV business and contributing to its growth in the electronics and appliances sectors. Despite challenges in recent years, including struggles in the semiconductor market, Han remained committed to Samsung’s future, even addressing the company’s underperformance in its stock and warning of a tough year ahead due to global economic uncertainties.

Han joined Samsung in 1988 after graduating with a degree in electrical engineering. He was instrumental in Samsung’s launch of LED TVs and other innovations that helped the company maintain its technological leadership. Samsung expressed deep condolences to Han’s family and loved ones, acknowledging his significant contributions to the company.
