Ramadan 2025 Begins: Greetings in Different Languages

Saudi Arabia has announced that Ramadan 2025 will begin on Saturday, March 1, following the sighting of the crescent moon. However, in countries like Indonesia, Malaysia, Bangladesh, India, and Pakistan, the moon was not sighted, making the first day of fasting Sunday, March 2.

Around 1.9 billion Muslims worldwide observe Ramadan, engaging in fasting, prayers, and reflection. The month is significant as it marks the revelation of the Quran to Prophet Muhammad over 1,400 years ago. Fasting from dawn to sunset is one of the five pillars of Islam, alongside faith, prayer, charity, and pilgrimage to Mecca.

Muslims begin their fast with suhoor (pre-dawn meal) and break it with iftar at sunset. Traditional Ramadan greetings vary across languages, with common phrases including “Ramadan Mubarak” (Blessed Ramadan) and “Ramadan Kareem” (Generous Ramadan). Greetings also exist in sign language and Braille for inclusivity.

As Ramadan begins, people worldwide exchange greetings to mark this sacred time. You can find and share greeting cards in different languages to spread the joy and spirit of the holy month.
