President’s Secretariat Requests One-Year Performance Report from Federal Government

ISLAMABAD – The President’s Secretariat has requested a one-year performance report from the federal government, sources revealed on Saturday. This request comes ahead of President Asif Ali Zardari’s upcoming address to the joint session of Parliament.

During his speech, President Zardari is expected to highlight the key achievements and challenges faced by the government over the past year. Economic policies and their outcomes, as well as regional and international issues like Kashmir and Palestine, will also be addressed.

Amid potential opposition protests, the speech is anticipated to last around 20 to 25 minutes. The joint session of Parliament is set for March 10, marking the beginning of the second parliamentary year, with the National Assembly Speaker presiding over the session. Top government and military officials, including governors, chief ministers, and provincial assembly speakers, are also invited.

The Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP), an ally of the ruling PML-N government, has recently voiced concerns regarding governance matters. During a visit to Lahore, President Zardari advised PPP leaders to be patient until the upcoming budget and urged them to prepare for local body elections in Punjab.
