Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has taken notice of gas supply disruptions during Sehri and Iftar in Ramadan, directing authorities to resolve the issue on priority.
In an emergency meeting, he instructed officials from Sui gas companies to ensure uninterrupted gas supply during peak hours. Following his orders, the Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) announced an immediate 10% increase in gas pressure. Additionally, gas supply to areas at the far end of the distribution network will begin 30-45 minutes before Sehri and Iftar to prevent shortages.
To monitor the situation, control rooms have been set up at SSGC’s head office and regional offices. These units will track the gas supply daily and report directly to the prime minister.
Meanwhile, Federal Minister for Power Division Sardar Awais Ahmed Khan Leghari met PM Shehbaz to discuss key power sector challenges and ongoing projects. They reviewed strategies to enhance efficiency and tackle electricity-related issues nationwide.
The government is actively working to ensure a smooth gas and power supply during Ramadan, addressing public concerns over shortages during crucial times.
