The mother of Hani Hicham Abou El Kheir, a 16-year-old boy who was fatally stabbed in central London in January 2013, has called for justice, saying, “People shouldn’t get away with such a barbaric act.” Hani was attacked by a group of men on a busy street, and five individuals were convicted of his murder in January 2014. However, 33-year-old Dilawar Hussain, one of the suspects, remains at large and is believed to be in Bangladesh.
Hani’s mother, Pauline Hickey, expressed her frustration that despite the conviction of several men, one suspect remains free. She urged the public not to protect those responsible for such heinous acts. She described Hani as a joyful and loving child, whose life was tragically cut short.
The Metropolitan Police are actively seeking information about Hussain’s whereabouts, urging anyone with details to come forward. Hussain, who was 21 at the time of the murder, had lived in London but fled to Bangladesh following the crime. Police continue to pursue him, with an arrest warrant still in effect.
