Israeli Military Resumes Offensive in Gaza, Casualties Rise

Israel has intensified its military operations in Gaza, launching fresh airstrikes and a ground offensive that has resulted in heavy casualties. At least 59 Palestinians were killed overnight, adding to the hundreds of deaths since Tuesday when the fighting resumed, breaking a two-month ceasefire.

Israel holds Hamas responsible for rejecting revised ceasefire terms, while Hamas blames Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for reigniting the conflict. The ceasefire had previously facilitated hostage exchanges and humanitarian aid.

The Israeli military has launched “targeted ground activities” in Gaza, seeking to establish a security zone. Airstrikes have hit densely populated areas, and humanitarian groups warn of worsening famine due to aid blockades.

A UN worker was killed in an explosion at a guesthouse frequently used by aid staff, with experts suggesting Israeli tank fire may be responsible. The IDF has denied direct involvement but is under scrutiny.

In Israel, protests against Netanyahu’s government have escalated, with thousands demonstrating in Jerusalem. Critics accuse him of using the war for political survival, leading to clashes with police and multiple arrests.
