International Women’s Day Marked with Commitment to Gender Equality

ISLAMABAD – International Women’s Day is being observed today to recognize women’s contributions and advocate for their rights. This year’s theme, “For ALL Women and Girls: Rights. Equality. Empowerment,” emphasizes the need for equal opportunities and a more inclusive future.

President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reaffirmed their commitment to empowering women and ensuring their safety, education, and economic independence. The president highlighted Pakistan’s dedication to upholding women’s rights through constitutional and international commitments. He noted key legislative measures, including laws against domestic violence, workplace harassment, and gender discrimination.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reiterated Pakistan’s efforts to enhance women’s rights through policy reforms and institutional support. He emphasized that every woman should have the opportunity to achieve her full potential, and every daughter should be able to pursue her dreams.

He also highlighted the role of Islam in safeguarding women’s dignity and rights, urging continued efforts to create an environment where women can thrive. Pakistan has made notable progress in gender equality, but leaders stress the need for further initiatives to ensure women’s full participation in all spheres of life.
