India secured a 44-run victory over New Zealand in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 Group A match at Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
Batting first, India posted 249/9 in 50 overs after losing early wickets. Shreyas Iyer played a crucial knock of 79 runs, while Axar Patel (42) and Hardik Pandya (45) provided valuable contributions. Matt Henry was the standout bowler for New Zealand, taking five wickets.
Chasing 250, New Zealand struggled as wickets fell at regular intervals. Kane Williamson top-scored with 81, while Mitchell Santner (28) and Will Young (22) offered support. However, the team was bowled out for 205 in 45.3 overs.
India’s Varun Chakaravarthy delivered a match-winning performance with five wickets, earning the Player of the Match title. Kuldeep Yadav took two wickets, while Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, and Hardik Pandya picked up one each.
With this win, India strengthened its position in Group A, moving closer to the semifinals.
