Willie Mullins’ star horse, Galopin Des Champs, is on the verge of making history at the Cheltenham Gold Cup 2025. A third consecutive victory would place him among racing legends like Arkle and Best Mate, making him only the fifth horse to achieve this feat.
Despite the pressure, Galopin Des Champs remains the odds-on favorite, with few strong contenders. Banbridge, the King George VI Chase winner, is considered his closest rival, while Inothewayurthinkin, owned by JP McManus, is another competitor.
Mullins believes his champion possesses remarkable stamina, mental toughness, and a competitive spirit that sets him apart. His groom, Adam Connolly, notes that the horse’s confidence and presence have grown with each win.
The race, set for Friday at 16:00 GMT, features eight challengers, including three British-trained outsiders: Ahoy Senor, The Real Whacker, and Royale Pagaille.
With a dominant win in 2023 and a successful title defense in 2024, racing experts predict that if Galopin Des Champs delivers his best form again, he will be difficult to beat.
