KARACHI – A massive fire broke out late Monday night at a warehouse of an online food delivery company in Nazimabad, Karachi. Firefighters successfully extinguished the blaze after a five-hour-long operation.
Chief Fire Officer Humayun Ahmed confirmed that no casualties occurred. However, the firefighters faced challenges due to thick smoke and lack of proper ventilation. To manage the situation, a wall was demolished using heavy machinery to allow smoke to escape.
Ahmed revealed that the company had established the warehouse without obtaining the mandatory Fire No Objection Certificate. Various grocery items stored inside were damaged.
Five firefighting vehicles participated in the operation to control the fire.
Karachi has witnessed multiple fire incidents in recent months. In February, a major fire broke out at a shopping center near Teen Talwar, and in December, a fire at a multi-story building near Rimpa Plaza required assistance from the Pakistan Navy to extinguish.
