Finance Minister Pledges Government Support for Insurance Sector

ISLAMABAD – Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue, Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to strengthening Pakistan’s insurance sector, highlighting its potential for private sector investment.

During a meeting with top executives from leading insurance companies, the minister emphasized the need to expand beyond traditional banking for lending and urged the insurance industry to play a more active role in meeting financial demands. He stressed the importance of innovation, increased productivity, and sectoral growth.

The discussion centered on the insurance sector’s role in the economy, particularly its contributions to the health system, Pakistan Investment Bonds (PIBs), capital markets, and long-term investments. Industry representatives also presented key proposals aimed at boosting growth and productivity.

Aurangzeb assured the delegation that the government would continue working closely with industry stakeholders to ensure sustainable development in the insurance sector, which remains a crucial pillar of Pakistan’s economy.
