LAHORE – The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee has announced that the holy month of Ramazan in Pakistan will begin on March 2 (Monday). As the nation prepares for fasting, discussions about the Eid ul Fitr 2025 holiday schedule have also started.
Eid ul Fitr marks the end of Ramazan and is celebrated with religious enthusiasm worldwide. The federal government typically announces three public holidays for the occasion. According to SUPARCO, Ramazan is expected to last 29 days, with Eid likely to fall on March 31.
If the Shawwal moon is not sighted on March 30, Eid will be observed on April 1. In this case, the government may declare holidays until April 3, potentially giving people six consecutive holidays, including the weekend (March 29-30). If Eid is confirmed on March 31, public holidays will last until April 2, providing a five-day break due to the weekend.
The official holiday announcement is yet to be made, but based on past trends, Pakistanis can anticipate an extended break to celebrate Eid with their families.
