SYDNEY – Former Australian Test cricketer Stuart MacGill has been found guilty in a drug-related case, according to local media reports on Thursday.
The New South Wales District Court delivered the verdict after an eight-day trial, where the jury rejected MacGill’s claim that he had merely introduced two individuals. Instead, he was found guilty of facilitating a cocaine transaction, assisting both his brother-in-law and a street drug dealer.
The case dates back to 2021 and had been under investigation since then. However, MacGill was not convicted of large-scale drug operations. He also admitted to purchasing half a gram of cocaine for $200 on multiple occasions.
MacGill is set to face sentencing later this year, with further legal proceedings expected in the coming months.
