At a recent consultative dialogue on “Advancing Cooperation in Knowledge and Technology Transfer under CPEC 2.0”, Chinese Minister Counsellor Yang Guangyuan emphasized the importance of B2B collaboration and digital innovation in strengthening Pakistan-China economic ties. The event, hosted by the Institute of Regional Studies (IRS), gathered experts, academics, and officials to explore technology transfer and skill development under the CPEC framework.
Ambassador Jauhar Saleem, President of IRS, highlighted that CPEC Phase 2 should focus on intellectual infrastructure, enabling Pakistan to move towards a knowledge-based economy. He stressed the need to equip youth with modern skills to foster innovation.
Key discussions included agriculture advancements, modern mining techniques, and the expansion of technology zones. Hamza Saeed Orakzai from STZA announced 18 technology zones with 25,000 jobs, alongside a $300 million investment from China for Pakistan’s tech sector.
Speakers also emphasized Pakistan’s space sector growth and the success of over 50 joint research projects between both nations. This dialogue reaffirmed CPEC 2.0’s shift towards knowledge-sharing, ensuring long-term economic and technological progress for Pakistan.
