China’s annual “Two Sessions” have begun, drawing global attention as Beijing reinforces its strategic alliances, particularly with Pakistan. These key meetings—the National People’s Congress (NPC) and the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC)—highlight China’s commitment to strengthening trade, infrastructure, and regional security partnerships.
Muhammad Zamir Assadi, a Research Fellow at the China International Press and Communication Centre, emphasized that these sessions will foster new economic opportunities for Pakistan, especially through the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). The second phase of CPEC will focus on industrial cooperation, agriculture, energy, and infrastructure, attracting Chinese investment, generating employment, and advancing technology transfer.
China views Pakistan as a crucial partner in the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and is committed to expanding economic ties. Investments in green energy and high-tech industries will help Pakistan accelerate industrial growth and address development challenges. The outcomes of the “Two Sessions” are expected to enhance trade routes, improve connectivity, and increase foreign investments.
Islamabad and Beijing have maintained a strong economic and political alliance, particularly through CPEC. Discussions at the sessions are expected to focus on strengthening this partnership, with an emphasis on energy, trade, and technology.
