China Introduces Online Visa Facility for Libyan Citizens

China has launched a new online visa application facility for Libyan citizens, which will be available from March 17th. This move, confirmed by the Chinese Embassy in Libya, aims to simplify the visa process for Libyan entrepreneurs and traders looking to expand their businesses in China. The online system is designed to streamline the application process, which previously posed challenges for those wishing to grow their presence in the Chinese market.

This initiative is part of China’s broader strategy to ease visa requirements for foreign visitors, especially in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic, which significantly impacted tourism. Recent statistics from China’s National Bureau of Statistics show a notable increase in international visitors, with 26.94 million foreign tourists in the past year, generating $94.2 billion in revenue—a significant jump from 2023.

As part of its efforts to encourage tourism, China has also relaxed visa requirements for 38 countries and expanded visa-free entry for transit travelers from 54 countries, allowing stays of up to 10 days. With these changes, China hopes to attract more international visitors and boost tourism, highlighting its rich cultural and natural attractions, including the Great Wall, Terracotta Army, and Zhangjiajie National Forest Park.
