Bannu Cantonment Attack Foiled: 16 Terrorists Killed, Five Soldiers Martyred

RAWALPINDI – Pakistani security forces successfully foiled a terrorist attack on Bannu Cantonment on March 4, 2025, eliminating 16 terrorists, including four suicide bombers. However, five soldiers embraced martyrdom in the intense exchange of fire, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

The attackers attempted to breach the cantonment’s security by ramming two explosive-laden vehicles into the perimeter wall. The explosions caused partial wall collapse, damaging nearby structures, including a mosque and residential buildings. Thirteen civilians lost their lives, and 32 others sustained injuries.

ISPR revealed intelligence reports confirming the involvement of Afghan nationals in the attack, with evidence linking its planning to terrorist leaders operating from Afghanistan. Pakistan has urged the Interim Afghan Government to prevent its territory from being used for terrorism against Pakistan and has reserved the right to respond to cross-border threats.

Pakistan’s security forces remain committed to eliminating terrorism in all its forms, with ISPR reaffirming their determination to safeguard the nation.
