Attaullah Tarar Rejects Indian Media’s Claims of Security Threat

Pakistan Dismisses Indian Media’s Terror Threat Claims for Champions Trophy

Information Minister Attaullah Tarar has rejected Indian media reports alleging security threats to foreign visitors attending the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 in Pakistan. Reports claimed that Pakistan’s Intelligence Bureau had issued an alert about potential abductions by banned groups, including Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan and Islamic State.

Tarar strongly denied these claims, stating that the tournament is being held in a safe and well-organized manner, with enthusiastic crowds filling the stadiums. He accused Indian media of spreading baseless propaganda to undermine Pakistan’s successful hosting of the event.

He further said that such misinformation attempts had been made before, as some elements could not accept an international ICC tournament taking place in Pakistan. He reassured that security measures, including deployment of rangers and local law enforcement, were in place to ensure the safety of all players and visitors.

Emphasizing Pakistan’s capability to host major sporting events, Tarar affirmed that the country remains a secure and welcoming destination for international cricket.
