Honduras Man Accused of Killing Georgia Mother Was in the US Illegally

Hector Sagastume Rivas, a 21-year-old man from Honduras, has been arrested for the murder of 52-year-old Camillia Williams, a mother of five, in Marietta, Georgia. Rivas, who crossed into the US illegally four years ago, was initially detained by Customs and Border Protection but failed to attend a hearing in July 2023, leading to a deportation order. He now faces charges of felony murder and aggravated assault for allegedly killing Williams in March 2025 by placing her in a chokehold and kneeling on her neck.

Williams’ body was found on March 13, and Rivas was arrested five days later. While it’s unclear if Williams and Rivas knew each other, her brother reported that she had been fearful of a man following her shortly before the killing. Georgia’s Governor Brian Kemp condemned the crime, promising justice and support for her family. ICE has filed an immigration detainer to ensure Rivas remains in custody. His arrest highlights ongoing concerns over undocumented immigrants involved in criminal activities and the Trump administration’s focus on stricter immigration enforcement.
