Ukrainian soldiers have shared harrowing accounts of their retreat from Russia’s Kursk region, describing the situation as “catastrophic.” Troops faced relentless drone attacks, destroyed equipment, and blocked supply routes as they withdrew.
According to “Volodymyr,” the front collapsed as Russian forces, supported by North Korean troops, cut off key logistics routes. “Maksym” reported that Ukrainian vehicles were constantly targeted, leaving wreckage along the roads. “Anton” described the retreat as disastrous, stating that Ukrainian forces lacked sufficient drones and supplies. “Dmytro” likened the withdrawal to a horror movie, recalling how soldiers had to flee on foot to avoid drone strikes.
Although “Artem,” a wounded soldier, praised the resilience of Ukrainian troops near Loknya, most accounts suggest the Kursk operation has failed. Ukrainian forces have now retreated to defensive positions. While Ukraine’s leadership claims the offensive distracted Russian troops from other fronts, analysts estimate that much of the gained territory has been lost.
Despite claims of heavy Russian casualties, Ukraine’s ability to maintain its foothold in Kursk appears uncertain, raising questions about the strategic outcome of the operation.
