Hollywood is pushing for stricter regulations against AI-generated deepfakes, as celebrities like Steve Harvey, Taylor Swift, and Scarlett Johansson become frequent targets of scams. Fraudsters have used AI to mimic their voices and likenesses, promoting scams that deceive the public.

Harvey, whose deepfake videos have been used in fraudulent schemes, is advocating for legislation to penalize creators and platforms hosting such content. Congress is considering multiple bills, including the No Fakes Act, which would hold platforms accountable for unauthorized AI content, and the Take It Down Act, aimed at criminalizing AI-generated deepfake pornography.

Supporters, including the Recording Academy and Screen Actors Guild, argue that AI-generated content is an abuse of public trust. Critics, however, worry about overregulation and First Amendment violations.

Meanwhile, AI-detection firms like Vermillio AI are working to track and remove deepfake content, but these solutions remain costly. As deepfake technology rapidly advances, celebrities and lawmakers urge swift action to prevent further harm.
