Karachi – The first lunar eclipse of 2025 is set to occur on March 14, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department. However, it will not be visible in Pakistan as it will take place during the daytime.
The eclipse will be visible across Europe, most of Asia, Australia, Africa, North and South America, as well as the Pacific, Atlantic, Arctic, and Antarctic regions. The event is significant as it marks the first “Blood Moon” in three years, with the last one observed in 2022.
As per the Met Office, the lunar eclipse will begin at 8:57 AM (PST), reach total eclipse at 11:59 AM, and conclude by 3:00 PM (PST).
A lunar eclipse happens when the Earth comes between the Sun and the Moon, casting a shadow on the Moon. Unlike a solar eclipse, a lunar eclipse can be viewed with the naked eye without any harm.
Additionally, the first solar eclipse of the year is expected on March 29, but it will also not be visible in Pakistan. The year 2025 will witness four eclipses in total—two lunar and two solar.
