High Pollen Count in Islamabad Poses Risk for Allergy Patients

ISLAMABAD – The pollen count in Islamabad has risen to alarming levels, reaching 4,590 per cubic meter of air on Sunday, posing a serious health risk for allergy sufferers.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), the highest concentration was recorded in H-8 sector (4,590), followed by G-6 (1,882), E-8 (1,720), and F-10 (1,064).

The most abundant pollen species in the capital include Paper Mulberry, Acacia, Eucalyptus, Pines, Grasses, Cannabis, Dandelion, and Alternaria. Among them, Paper Mulberry has the highest concentration at 4,020 (Very High), followed by Grasses (237 – Very High), Cannabis (138 – High), and Pines (172 – High). Other species, such as Alternaria, Eucalyptus, and Dandelion, recorded lower levels.

Health experts have urged allergy patients to take necessary precautions to avoid exposure and manage symptoms as pollen levels remain dangerously high in the city.
