Israel Maintains Gaza Blockade; Trump Issues Final Warning to Hamas

US President Donald Trump has issued a “last warning” to Hamas, demanding the release of all Israeli captives held in Gaza and urging the group’s leaders to leave the region. This statement follows the White House’s confirmation of direct talks with Hamas for the first time since 1997, aiming to secure the release of hostages and bring an end to the ongoing conflict in Gaza.

The humanitarian situation in Gaza has become dire due to Israel’s blockade, which has led to soaring food prices and severe shortages. The World Food Programme has warned that its supplies could deplete in less than two weeks, further exacerbating the crisis. Meanwhile, Gaza’s Health Ministry reports 48,440 Palestinian deaths, with over 111,845 individuals injured in the ongoing conflict. The death toll has risen sharply, with at least 61,709 Palestinians now confirmed dead, many of whom are presumed lost under rubble.

In Israel, the October 7, 2023, Hamas-led attacks resulted in at least 1,139 Israeli deaths and over 200 captives taken by Hamas. This escalation has triggered intense international focus on the ongoing war and the negotiations for hostages’ release.
