Peshawar: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa health department has confirmed the province’s first locally transmitted case of monkeypox.
According to Special Health Adviser Ihtesham Khan, the infected woman’s husband had recently returned from a Gulf country. The patient was admitted to the hospital on February 18 with fever and body aches. By February 19, rashes appeared on her body and mouth, and her test results on February 21 confirmed the monkeypox diagnosis.
Authorities have instructed the patient’s close contacts, including her husband, to observe strict home isolation.
