Polio cases rise in Pakistan: Two more children diagnosed

The battle against polio continues in Pakistan as two new cases have been reported, raising the total number of polio-infected children this year to 52.

The latest victims are a one-and-a-half-year-old boy and a three-year-old girl from Daraz Nanda tehsil in Dera Ismail Khan. Despite ongoing vaccination drives, this development highlights the persistent challenge in eradicating the virus.

Region-wise, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has reported 13 cases, Balochistan 24, Sindh 13, while Punjab and Islamabad have each documented one case so far.

Health authorities are urging intensified vaccination campaigns and community engagement to prevent further spread and protect vulnerable children.
